Shady antiquities dealer Pierre St. Croix is back on the divided island of Cyprus, this time with his sights set on finding a special relic that could make the half-Swiss, half-Lebanese smuggler an extremely rich man. Two of his acquaintances, Canadian Sue-Ellen MacIntyre and American Megan Delany, may be in a position to offer him practical support and information. MacIntyre is a consultant at the Cyprus Museum, while Delany is a forensic scientist at the local Missing Persons Bureau. Both have compelling reasons to want to help OConnor outfox the crafty smuggler. Divining what St. Croix is after may be the easy part though. Discovering that his sponsors belong to a sinister Freemasonic splinter group based in southern France casts a frightening new light on the reason hes so desperate to get his hands on it. Meanwhile, the unquiet ghost of a long-dead Herodian princess roams abroad, and her victims are piling up. It becomes a race against time for OConnor to find the sacred relic before his nemesis does: the fate of modern civilisation may depend on it.
